For over 10 years Paul has been teaching private lessons in drums and percussion, primarily in Seattle and Los Angeles. Paul’s students have gone on to attend music programs such as Cal Arts, the New School, and the Peabody Conservatory, among others.
Paul’s teaching style reflects his diversity of teachers over the years, which include Seattle Symphony percussionist Howard Gilbert, free-jazz icon Milford Graves, tabla maestro Swapan Chaudhuri, and jazz drummer Joe Labarbera. He has simmered down these influences into a teaching style that focuses on technique, musicality, and curiosity.
